Edit permissions
Editing permissions provide flexibility when standard roles are too rigid for a specific user's needs.
Step 1: Manage the permissions
- Log in to the application.
- Click on the profile icon on the top right side of the navigation bar.
- Click on the “Roles” option.
- Click on the “Permissions” tab in the submenu.
- Select or search for the specific user to audit.
- Search for the required permission and explicitly set it to Allow or Deny.
- A visual indicator will appear to show that an “override” is active for that user.
- Click the Overrides filter to see changes made for that user.
Step 2: Run as user
- Click on the “Run as” button.
- Test permissions to ensure accurate permissions have been granted.
- Click on the “Exit Run As” button on the top right banner when complete.
For a cleaner organization, it is recommended to create a single "combination role" (like a "Volunteer" role) that merges the permissions of other roles, rather than assigning many individual roles to one user. This makes auditing and management much simpler.
