Altru real-time data updates

Real-time data updates occur between Altru OData links and the application, ensuring all connected tools reflect the most recent information.

Components

  • Applications: Tools like the Calendar, Email Designer, Barcode Scanner, and Data Bridge reside on the platform.
  • OData monitoring service: Runs in the background to manage and process data requests from Altru.

Mechanism of data updates

  • Query creation: Users create and configure OData queries directly in Altru.
  • Data request: The ODATA monitoring service uses these queries to periodically request data from Altru.
  • Update trigger: When new data is detected (e.g., ticket purchases or membership activity), Altru updates its data source.
  • Real-Time sync: The monitoring service retrieves the new data and updates the connected applications accordingly.

OData queries that take more than two minutes to load will generate an error in the OData process. This is due to timeout limitations with Altru. To prevent errors, ensure the queries are optimized to return data within two minutes.

Common issues and solutions

  • Timestamp not updating: This usually means no new data is available from Altru, rather than a system malfunction.
  • No activity visible in applications: If the applications, like the calendar or email designer, appear inactive, it indicates Altru hasn’t sent any new data.

I’m not seeing any new data. Is this working?” Yes. If the activity tab shows as empty, it simply means there is no new data available at the moment. Once Altru pushes new data, it will be immediately reflected in the activity tab and the corresponding applications.
