Email disabled without query modifications: common causes

If your email is being disabled without any visible query modifications, it is likely due to configuration issues related to system records, note types, or app permissions. Below is a breakdown of common causes based on severity:

High severity

  • Missing system record ID:

If your setup does not include a valid system record ID, the system cannot process the email correctly, resulting in the email being disabled.

  • Invalid mapping configuration:

An incorrect mapping between your email setup and the system can prevent email delivery. When we attempt to send the email with this misconfiguration, it gets automatically disabled.

Medium severity

Mismatched note types:

Switching between incompatible note types can also trigger email disabling. Common problematic transitions include:

  • Membership → Sales Order
  • Membership → Group Sales
  • Sales Order → Membership
  • Group Sales → Sales Order
  • Group Sales → Membership

These mismatches confuse the system’s logic for handling the note, leading to a failure in processing the email.

Lower severity

Insufficient app permissions:

If the application authorization lacks the required permissions to attach a note, the system disables the email to prevent sending incomplete or incorrect data.

Recommended action

Review your system record IDs, verify note type consistency, and ensure your app authorization has all necessary permissions. Correcting these issues should prevent the automatic disabling of your email.
